iPhone 5 vs Galaxy S3 vs One X: Sharpest Shooter In Town

There are loads of great smartphones around right now, and if you’re keen on taking photos and videos, then three potential choices which are readily available now on the market are the HTC One X, the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the iPhone 5. These phones have brilliant cameras that make for stunning photos and video capture. So which one is the best?

iPhone 5 vs Samsung Galaxy S3 vs HTC One X: best camera

The folks over at GforGames compared these three fab phones to find the best of the pack, and the results were quite clear. For degradation of the background, the HTC One X stood out – and not in a good way – as the phone seems to over-sharpen it. The Samsung Galaxy S3 and the iPhone 5 were both brilliant, however.

The iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S3 are level-pegging on exposure too, whereas the One X was under-exposed, leading to darker photos.

In colours, the iPhone 5 dealt well with a wider range of conditions, giving photos that looked much more natural. The Samsung Galaxy S3 came second with very similar quality to the iPhone 5, but the HTC One X had a yellow tinge and an excessively “warm” look and feel when compared to its rivals.

The iPhone 5 was best in the dynamic range, giving great photos in all sorts of light conditions. The One X and the Samsung Galaxy S3 were pretty much the same, although the S3 had the best flash of the bunch (just).

In terms of video the iPhone 5 was the leader for HD recording – the videos had sharp detail and natural-looking colours. The Samsung Galaxy S3 also performed well, and kept wind noise lowest. The HTC One X, again, didn’t do so well with details and low light recording.

So, it seems that the iPhone 5 camera was the best, and it was also very fast. The Samsung Galaxy S3 and the One X weren’t all that far behind, and also offered extras, like a burst mode. Now we’re just waiting for the Nokia Lumia 920 to come along and stir things up – once this WP8 handset hits the streets there’ll be some interesting comparisons! Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii, PC, iPhone and Android games keep Berke busy at work all day. Honestly though we’re not sure why we’re paying him as it should be the other way around.
