Fans of Apple are still drooling over their Apple iPhone 5, while fans of Android love the features that come with the phone to rival the Apple iPhone 5, the Samsung Galaxy S3. Both of the devices have a different OS, however in some ways they are alike. So which handset do you prefer, the one from Apple or Samsung’s? Let’s take a look at the major differences.

iPhone 5 vs Samsung Galaxy S3

Apple revealed the Apple iPhone 5 in September of 2012 and it went on to be successful. The device is the lightest iPhone to come out as it weighs just 112 grams and has a screen of 4 inches. The handset is offered in black and white, with both of the devices being two toned on the back. The Apple iPhone 5 comes with an antenna which is more advanced, which means that is should not lose signal so easily. It increases the GPS lock on, along with connection when calling.

The jack for the headphones is positioned at the bottom of the handset and it comes with the Lightening port. The device is thinner and it has been designed more compactly. The Apple iPhone 5 works on 2G, 3G and 4G, it has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB support. The camera on the back is 8 megapixel, while the front one is 1.2 megapixel, and it records video while capturing images.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 came out in May and it has been the best-selling handset up to now, with more than 10 million being sold within just two months. The handset is thin and light, at 131 grams. The casing does have a plastic look to it though. The Samsung Galaxy S3 has a large display of 4.8 inches and you can get it in black or grey, it also has support for SD card, along with HDMI support.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 works on 2G,3G and 4G, supports Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, NFC and USB. The camera on the rear is 8 megapixel, the one on the front is 1.9 megapixel. Just like the Apple iPhone, it can take video and images at the same time.

The Apple iPhone 5 is lighter along with being slimmer than the Samsung Galaxy S3, but the display is smaller, while the resolution is higher at 326ppi, compared to that of the Samsung Galaxy S3 at 306ppi. The Samsung Galaxy S3 doesn’t feel as comfortable to hold as the Apple iPhone 5, however its battery life is great and offers around 16 hours of talking, this is in comparison to the Apple iPhone, which gives around 8 hours.

Both of the devices come with language commands that are natural, along with dictation and noise cancellation thanks to a dedicated microphone. They have TV out, voice memo, dial and commands, along with a great choice of apps. The Samsung Galaxy S3 is excellent for work, as it comes with 50GB of Dropbox storage, Word, Excel, Powerpoint and PDF. It also has Calendar, Google Search, Gmail and Maps. The Apple iPhone 5 on the other hand is the better of the two for social networking, thanks to neater integration with Facebook and Twitter. It also has superb storage choices with iCloud. The Apple iPhone 5 has Maps, however this was somewhat of a let-down, although Apple have said that they will overhaul maps eventually.
