The iPhone has long-standing been known for its great App Store and selection of high quality apps. And when it comes to quality, one thing that does matter most is games.

Best gaming phone: iPhone 5 vs Samsung Galaxy Note 2

Of course the iPhone is no competition for handhelds but given that it is always with you just like how a mobile phone should be, its popularity among gamers have continued to skyrocket. Proof of this is in the numerous popular game titles that have been ported for the iPhone and continue to dominate the App Store’s popular apps list.

Now popular gaming website Kotaku suggests that the reign of the iPhone as the best gaming phone may be under attack. Kotaku’s Mike Fahey explains how his iPhone has now been replaced by the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 as the best gaming phone.

With its 5.5-inch 720p Super AMOLED screen that allows for better clarity and more real estate for your thumbs, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is more than just eye candy. Powered by a 1.6 GHz quad-core processor, it is capable of handling any game there is on the Google Play Store and its size matches up with other portable gaming handhelds like the PS Vita. In contrast, the iPhone 5 and its 4-inch Retina Display is sharp but tiny in comparison to its rivals.

There is no doubt that it will take some time before all the best games available for the iPhone become so for Android devices. However with the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 building up to be the ultimate gaming phone, it won’t be too long before developers begin to take notice of the potential.
