iPhone 5 vs Nokia Lumia 920: Apple Prematurely Declared Winner

By  |

In a comparison between the iPhone 5 and the Lumia 920 from Nokia by the folks over at GadgetReview, the iPhone 5 came out on top as the winner. However while the iPhone 5 scores very favourably; scores are not the only thing you have to take into account when comparing the handsets explained the tech blog.

Little is known about the storage options of the Lumia 920 at the moment, but the camera may be better than the one on the iPhone 5, as Apple haven’t made that many improvements to their 8 megapixel camera. One of the reasons why GR picked the iPhone 5 winner over the Nokia Lumia 920 is that we have not really seen much about the Nokia Lumia 920 and its specs. One of the few things that we do know about it is the processor, which is old as there are not many handsets using the Krait processor, when just months ago it was among the best out there. We also don’t know what to expect from Windows Phone 8, and for instance, how long the battery will last on the handset in real world usage.

You do have to give some thought to the apps as Windows phones tend to remind us that the device is a phone first and then a mini computer second. It should offer customisation, but other than that it is a close kept secret what Windows Phone 8 will offer. At the moment it is unsure if app developers will climb on board with Windows Phone 8, as companies such as Pandora, have chosen not to already.

On the other side, GadgetReview points out that the iPhone 5 is a great handset and many people will be looking to buying the device over the holiday period, sticking with what they know and love.

One can argue that declaring the iPhone 5 winner because not much is known about the Nokia Lumia 920 can be premature. Nevertheless check out GR’s full review here and the comparison chart below to see how they reach the verdict of the iPhone 5 being a better bet than the Nokia Lumia 920.

Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii, PC, iPhone and Android games keep Berke busy at work all day. Honestly though we’re not sure why we’re paying him as it should be the other way around.
