iPhone 5 vs Nexus 4 vs Galaxy S3: [Spoiler: LG Wins]

By  |

There is nothing like comparing flagship handsets and here we are comparing some of the best to find out if any can take the crown from the Samsung Galaxy S3 as the best-selling handset?

The Samsung Galaxy S3 happens to be the biggest of the devices as it has a display of 4.8 inches. It is 0.1 inch larger over the diagonal than the LG Nexus 4. It does have the same resolution however. The LG Nexus 4 comes with an IPS display that is very bright, just like the Optimus G and the Samsung handset has the PenTile AMOLED display. The Apple iPhone 5 is smaller as it is just 4 inches and the display is retina. LDC displays usually have brightness levels that are higher which is easier to see in sunlight. AMOLED displays tend to look hyper real. Therefore I put the LG Nexus 4 as the winner thanks to it having better colour than the Samsung Galaxy S3 and is a better size than the Apple iPhone 5.

The LG Nexus 4 works on the Snapdragon S4 Pro processor and this is the fastest on any Android handset. If you look at it on paper it is better than the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Apple iPhone 5 as it has quad core and 2GB. The Apple iPhone 5 comes with dual core and 1GB of RAM and the Samsung Galaxy S3 is quad core with 1GB of RAM internationally and dual core with 2GB in the US.

In regards to the design the LG Nexus 4 is the first Android device that comes with a build that can actually rival that of the Apple iPhone 5. The same cannot be said about the Samsung Galaxy S3 as it is made from plastic. Nothing can beat the Apple iPhone 5 when it comes to looks, despite that it has the same design that was seen on the Apple iPhone 4S from years ago. This means that it is a draw between the LG Nexus 4 and the Apple iPhone 5.

When it comes to connections the LG Nexus 4 comes in last place and the Samsung Galaxy S3 is the winner. The Nexus 4 comes with NFC, the Apple iPhone 5 has LTE but the Samsung Galaxy S3 comes with both.

The cost of the handset is generally very important and the LG Nexus 4 comes in at $299 for the 8GB version. The Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Apple iPhone 5 are both in the bracket of around $500 without a contract. Of course you do have to take into account that the LG Nexus 4 doesn’t have LTE and the storage is poor at just 8GB or 16GB.

The LG Nexus 4 comes out top in just about everything except for the above. However if you can manage with 16GB of storage and you don’t have to have LTE, the LG Nexus 4 would be the winner. If not the Samsung Galaxy S3 is second, with the Apple iPhone 5 in third place.
