Samsung Galaxy S3 vs iPhone 5 vs HTC One X: Best Shooter Is…

Apple have not made many changes to the camera on the iPhone 5 from that of the iPhone 4S. However it doesn’t matter as vast changes were not needed. The iPhone 4S happens to have one of the best cameras on a phone and the iPhone 5 has better processing and enhancements, which makes it superb. However there are other phones with good cameras that came out this year and these include the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the HTC One X.

iPhone 5 vs Samsung Galaxy S3 vs HTC One X (CNET camera test)

All of the devices have 8 megapixel cameras with CMOS sensor and are backside illuminated. This means that more light can reach the diodes and so users get a photo with proper exposure and better low light results. All of the handsets have large apertures, the iPhone 5 has a f2.4.33mm lends, the Samsung Galaxy S3 an f2.6.27mm lens and a f2.28mm lens on the HTC One X. Thanks to more light being let in there is no need to have to use ISO sensitivities which are higher, and which add noise, while killing off detail.

CNET reports that in regards to colour performance when photos are taken in bright conditions, all three of the phones did very well. However details, colour and exposure were the best on the HTC One X. The photos of the Samsung Galaxy S3 were a little over exposed, but it’s not that noticeable and the iPhone 5 had no complaints but didn’t give pictures as accurate as the One X.

CNET went on to conduct a couple of different test pitting the camera on the three devices against each other and in conclusion found the iPhone 5 “regularly produced excellent photos regardless of lighting”. The HTC One X came in second place and the Samsung Galaxy S3 last. Check out the pictures here.
