iPhone 5 Untethered Jailbreak For iOS 6 Released, Controversy Ensues

Many fans got their hopes up of an untethered jailbreak being released for iOS 6 and the iPhone 5 in particular just yesterday. This was down to one of the well-known hackers posting a Twitter message which many thought meant that the jailbreak was finally here. The posting was shocking and brought up a lot of controversy among the hacking community. However this controversy quickly turned to doubt, and then all hopes were soon dashed as this turned out not to be the case at all.

iPhone 5 untethered jailbreak for iOS 6 a hoax

Hacker @p0sixninja made the posting and fans replied with questions about what they thought was the release of the jailbreak for iOS 6 and iPhone 5. It seems that hackers use the word “rain”, along with numbers and the message posted had contained these. However it turned out that it was nothing more than the hackers messaging each other and there was no jailbreak.

That same developer had posted earlier that day on Twitter, saying that the jailbreak for the iPhone 5 was looking grim and that he had turned to work on something even larger.

It appears that fans picked up on the use of the word “grim” and “rain” in the message, “#gr1mra1n”. This led to wonder if a jailbreak had been found, however there were others that saw the sarcasm in it. Fans are anxious for the untethered jailbreak and have been waiting for news of it ever since Apple released the iPhone 5 and iOS 6.

Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii, PC, iPhone and Android games keep Berke busy at work all day. Honestly though we’re not sure why we’re paying him as it should be the other way around.
