iPhone 5 iOS 6 Untethered Jailbreak Solutions Released, Both Questionable

Since Apple released iOS 6 and the iPhone 5, users waiting for a successful jailbreak have been waiting to hear about the public release of an untethered solution. Two sources have so far claimed that they offer such a thing; however both of these have now turned out to be scams.

Two iPhone 5 iOS 6 untethered jailbreak solutions announced

Installing any software from sources that are unknown and which is not official can lead to issues with your handset of course, so you should be wary. However jailbreakers are aware of such risks and usually proceed. The two claiming to have software to jailbreak the iPhone 5 and iOS 6 have been uncovered for what they are though, scammers after money. Both have been criticised by a member of the iPhone Dev Team, who says that at the moment there is no jailbreak.

One of the pair goes by the name of JHerthop. He was asking for money in return for the jailbreak. Sadly some people fell for the scam and sent it. However through Twitter, he did say that he would give refunds. Up to now there has not been any proof that he has done so. While the individual does show remorse for what he did, the same cannot be said of an individual by the name of Defiant6 on Twitter.

This individual also said that they had the untethered jailbreak for iOS 6 and the iPhone 5, and he wanted $500. The individual even went as far as uploading a screenshot. This was said to be proof of the untethered jailbreak working on an iPod Touch 5G. However the photo had been photoshopped rather badly and was full of errors in editing. When he was uncovered he took a different action than JHerthop and abused the people who were calling him a scam artist on Twitter.

There may be many more unscrupulous individuals out there who will jump on the chance to make money through iOS 6 and the iPhone 5 jailbreak quest, as people want it badly. However you might want to bear in mind that at the moment there is NO untethered jailbreak out there for iOS 6 or the iPhone 5.

Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii, PC, iPhone and Android games keep Berke busy at work all day. Honestly though we’re not sure why we’re paying him as it should be the other way around.
