Whenever someone releases a new OS people always start complaining that the battery life on their handset is not the same as it used to be. So here are 5 tips to help you get the most out of the battery life when running the latest OS from Apple on your iPhone.

iPhone: 5 tips to improve battery life

One of the best ways to prolong the life of the battery in between charges is to lower the brightness of your iPhone. Apple have boosted up the brightness level on iOS 6 and this means that you can lower the brightness of the display and still be able to see it clearly. You can do this is settings, brightness and wallpaper. You can also tick for auto brightness. The iPhone 5 for one has a much larger display than its predecessors so this should make a heap of difference on the latest version especially.

The iPhone is great at multi-tasking and most apps do not affect the battery. However there are some that do, such as those which rely on GPS. To get the most out of your battery you may want to shut down all apps in the background every so often. To close off apps just hold down the home button and then on the multi-tasking bar press and hold down on one of the apps you want to close, until it jiggles, the close icon will then show. Tap each of the icons for the apps you want close and then close off by tapping the home button again.

Keeping your apps up to date is essential if you want to get the most out of the battery. Some of the apps which were designed to run on older versions of iOS work, but they are not as efficient as new ones. Therefore keep checking and get updates for any and all apps.

Using the auto lock feature of the iPhone can help you to save battery as it will turn off the screen of the device after a pre-set time. This will save your battery and it stops anyone from getting into your handset.

Finally you should close off any radios that you are not using. For instance you can choose to stop 3G, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. You can chose what to turn off in the settings.
