HTC One X+ vs Samsung Galaxy S3: HTC Has Its Merits

By  |

There’s no doubt that the Samsung Galaxy S3 is among the Android best-sellers of the year. There is another Android device that shouldn’t be overlooked, though – the HTC One X+, which is a good upcoming choice and gives the S3 a run for its money.

Samsung Galaxy S3 vs HTC One X+

Speed: While the Samsung Galaxy S3 boasts a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon chip here in the US, the HTC One X+ has a 1.7GHz quad-core chipset. Generally the more cores and a higher clocked speed makes it better for multitasking and graphic intensive applications like games.

Camera: Both cameras are 8MP and can record 1,080p video. They have autofocus and LED flash. Samsung didn’t boast about its camera, but HTC touted a load of built-in filters and a custom image-processing chips that make pics more vibrant on the HTC One X+ . It’s a draw here.

Display: Two large HD screens here – the Samsung Galaxy S3 has a Super AMOLED 4.8” screen and the HTC One X+ has a 4.7” IPS. There are telling differences. The Samsung Galaxy S3 gives deep blacks and vibrant colours, but the One X+ is more realistic looking. It also has a brighter maximum setting than the S3 and performs better in direct sunlight. The HTC One X+ wins here.

Design: The HTC One X+ is better looking than the glossy plastic Samsung Galaxy S3. It looks more premium and is arguably the best-looking Android out there. The One X+ carries it home again.

Both of these phones are top of the range, but the HTC One X+ has the brains and the looks. It lags behind the Samsung Galaxy S3 in some areas though – it lacks an SD card and a removable battery. If this doesn’t bother you, go for the good looker!
