An “Unbiased” HTC One Review

By  |

HTC unveiled the HTC One yesterday at the press event. The device had been dubbed the HTC M7, and it was said that it would be arriving with some superb specs. The specs have now been revealed and HTC have certainly struck gold with the device. The handset is coming to shelves in March.

So what we have now is the official specs sheet. As you know, Autoomobiles love official specs as in our eyes, it is what you would consider an unbiased review of a smartphone. Judging it in any other way makes it opinionated already, and we will be seeing many of such reviews shortly as the device makes their rounds to the doorsteps of tech gurus. So let’s get started.

The rumoured HTC One specs proved to be true and the device is dazzling, it looks sleek. Many people will choose this handset once it is on the shelves and it will be interesting to see how well it does. The device will have Jelly Bean 4.1.2 and it comes with the HTC Sense 5 overlay. It has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 1.7 GHz quad core and it has a display of 4.7 inches, which is Super LCD at 1080p and offering 468 ppi, protected with Gorilla Glass 2.

The HTC One has 2GB of RAM, it will be available in 32GB or 64GB, however, it doesn’t have SD card expansion. It supports Wi-Fi a/ac/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4, NFC and it comes with a battery of 2300 mAh. The handset has dual stereo speakers with HTC BoomSound. It has a design that is premium quality with an aluminium unibody with zero gap, however it isn’t too heavy as it comes in at 143 grams. The measurements are 137.4mm x 68.2mm x 9.3mm.

The HTC One comes with what is called the custom Ultrapixel camera, which comes with 4 megapixels. However, this proves that pixels are not everything and HTC have said that the back camera gets 300% more light than any other camera sensor. It has a lens of f/2.0, image stabilisation, ImageChip 2 for HDR photos and it supports video at 1080p at 60fps. HTC didn’t stop here either as the Zoe service using the dedicated site of HTC has been introduced for users to take and share videos. The front facing camera is 2.1 megapixels and this can capture video at 1080p, plus it has a wide angle lens of 88 degrees.

The home screen is HTC BlinkFeed, which offers a personal live stream, which is a major move by HTC to make the device multi-media friendly. The HTC One will be available in silver or black and there is to be LTE along with HSPA choices. The handset will be revealed around the world to more than 80 regions and countries; it will be on 185 carriers from March. At the moment there has not been any word on the price of the device.

The HTC One looks as though it will be a much wanted handset and it could give the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S4 along with the Apple iPhone 5S or 6 some competition, as it has the head start. In terms of specs, it beats the Samsung Galaxy S3 in every way other than lack of expandable storage and the same can be said about its advantages over the Motorola DROID RAZR HD.

So will you be going out and getting the HTC One when it arrives in stores or will you hang on for the Samsung Galaxy S4 and Apple iPhone 5S?
