The line up to the Google Nexus 7 range of devices could soon have a new buddy join them. There have been reports from the UK that retailers have cut the price of their 16GB Google Nexus 7.

Approaching 32GB Google Nexus 7 has retailers shuffle price of current models

AndroidAuthority has reported that some retailers have cut the price of the Nexus 7 down by half. Comet is now offering the tablet for £179.99, when it was £199. CNET also checked on prices in the US, however at the moment the tablet is still commanding $249 for the 16GB version.

The drop in price by retailers in the UK has brought about speculation that Google will soon be releasing the 32GB Google Nexus 7. There have been many rumours going around that Google with replace the 16GB model of the tablet with the 32GB. This rumour was sparked following Staples in the US who had the 32GB Nexus listed for $248.37.

Google haven’t confirmed that the 32GB will be launching at their event, however this week Apple launched their iPad Mini, which is in competition with the Nexus 7. The iPad Mini comes in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB versions, so the Nexus 7 with its 8GB or 16GB, lacks storage when compared with the iPad Mini.

Google however are the winners when it comes to pricing as the Nexus 7 is $249, which is around $80 less than the entry level iPad Mini, which comes in at $329. Should Google offer a Nexus 7 32GB for $249, Google would be miles ahead and Apple may be out of the picture. The iPad Mini is set to come out on 2nd November.
