Google Nexus 5X Treated To Nougat

By  |

The Google Nexus 5X may be an older handset by today’s standards but it hasn’t been left out when it comes to Android Nougat. This is thanks to a treat from developers as it has been given Android 7.1 Nougat.

The CM14.1 ROM came from the CyanogenMod team and they launched the nightly build. The ROM might come with some issues but they will be resolved, however, for the time being some of the features may not work.

Before you install Android 7.1 Nougat onto your handset you have to ensure that you have 80% battery left and the device should be rooted. You have to enable USB debugging and have CWM or TWRP installed.

Download the CM14.1 ROM and GApps and then connect your handset to the computer and copy them over to the SDcard. Turn the handset off and disconnect.

Head to recovery mode by holding down volume up and down along with power and when you see Fastboot or Bootloader you can use your volume keys to navigate and the power button for choosing.

Choose backup and restore and then Nandroid and then go into the main menu. Wipe data with wipe data/factory reset and then wipe cache partition and delvik cache.

Install the ROM and confirm and then copy the above to install GApps and then reboot your Nexus 5X and you then have Android 7.1 Nougat installed.
