Google Nexus 4: Get The Marshmallow Update Yourself

By  |

Since Google will not be offering the new Marshmallow to the Google Nexus 4, the only way you can get it is to use the custom ROM created by the ROM developers.

We were not surprised that the Nexus 4 were not given the update since the smartphone is already a few years old now but if you are planning to upgrade your device to the Android 6.0 Marshmallow, here is how you can do it on your own.

There is currently two stable version of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow for the Nexus 4. One is based on the one created by Dmitry Grinberg while the other is the old created by developer Aldrin Holmes. Pick whichever want you like and get started.

First, you will need to transfer the TWRP file into the Nexus 4 and update/install it. Next, Switch off the device and enter Recovery Mode by holding down on the buttons Volume Up + Volume Down + Power Button. Wait until the TWP UI loads and select Wipe > Factory Reset.

Transfer one of the ROM-GApps into the device and reboot the Nexus 4. Enter the Recovery Mode once more. Do the same to the rest of the files and you are good to go.
