GMC Sierra I6: Ford F-150 Can’t Beat Them

By  |

We already knew that the GMC Sierra I6 was going to be fitted with a diesel engine but we did not know all the numbers until now. Based on the newly leaked documents, it looks like Ford and their F-150 might have a real rival now.

According to the documents, the GMC Sierra 16 diesel model which will be powered by a 3.0-liter I6 engine will be able to offer about 282hp and 450lb ft of torque when it arrives. We know that the Ford F-150 model is currently offering about 250hp and 440lb ft of torque with their 3.0 lite diesel engine.

While it might beat Ford when it comes to power, the Ford F-150 is still the winner when it comes to fuel efficiency. It has been reported that the Ford F-150 is able to return about 30mpg right now while the GMC Sierra I6 will return about 28mpg on the highway.

Other details leaked by the documents include the 7800 pounds of towing capability and the 10-speed automatic transmission that the engine will be getting.
