Galaxy S7 vs Lumia 950 XL: More Than Meets The Eye

By  |

There is more to the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the Microsoft Lumia 950 XL that first meets the eye. Both have cameras that are superb but which of the two offers the best?

The camera on the Windows phone doesn’t come with lots of features. One of the main things is the Rich Capture which allows you to adjust the exposure of the image even after the photo has been taken. It also comes with controls for ISO, brightness, focus and shutter speed.

The Windows phone camera doesn’t offer some of the basic features and these include panorama modes or any of the basic filters.

The Samsung camera app comes jam packed with features and if the stock ones aren’t enough then you can also get some plugins from the Samsung store. The animated GIF and the Rear Cam Selfie are just two.

The Microsoft Lumia 950 XL saturates images a little too much and this means that it doesn’t offer an image that is very realistic. This is interesting as it was the cameras from Samsung that used to saturate images too much.

The front cameras on both devices are 5MP while the Samsung Galaxy S7 offers a larger aperture with f/1.7 and the Microsoft Lumia 950 offers f/2.4. The S7 allows for 1440p video recording and the Lumia 950 records at 1080p.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 has a flash on the front camera but the Microsoft Lumia 950 XL doesn’t.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 offers the best front camera and it is better in low light without the need for a flash. The results of the Microsoft Lumia 950 offer results that are disappointing. The winner therefore is the Samsung Galaxy S7.
