Ford Explorers Still In Trouble After Fix

By  |

Ford had to recall their Ford Explorer after it was reported that the exhaust fumes were making its way to the passenger compartment. The recall affected models from 2011 to 2017 and while Ford has been taking steps to fix the issue, it looks like it was not enough after all.

According to the Center for Auto Safety, the complaints about the issues continued to arrive even after the customers have taken their Explorers in for the repairs last October. This suggests that the fix did not solve the issue at all.

The agency is now urging NHTSA to open up another investigation and look into the issue once more.

Ford’s fix for the issue was to replace the lift fate drain valves and inspect the sealing on the rear of the vehicle. They also reprogrammed the air conditions. Ford says that the complaints have decreased since the campaign but these new claims by the agency might suggest otherwise.
