Fiat 124 Spider Could Overtake Miata For 50th Birthday

The Fiat 124 Spider and the Mazda Miata could be brothers; however the Spider may well overtake the Miata for its 50th birthday.

The Mazda Miata and Fiat 124 Spider do share a lot of the same things, however Fiat makes use of the turbocharged engine and Mazda offers the naturally aspirated. Underneath though they are almost the same and both are built in the same factory over in Japan.

People have been wondering which of the two is going to come out ahead for sales. The Mazda Miata is the more focused of the two and its pure or will it be the Fiat 124 Spider, which is plusher? We always knew that this was going to be one fight that was very close and it is, as the October sales figures have just been released.

The Fiat 124 Spider sold 444 units in October and the Mazda Miata sold 505 units. This means just 61 units between them, so the race is a tight one. So the Miata is ahead but only just.

Things could change though and the Fiat 124 Spider may be able to poke its nose out ahead for its 50th birthday and come out ahead. Fiat is offering an incentive of $500 and this is going to run until the end of November. This means that the price tag of the Fiat is going to be below that of the Miata and it might give it the edge that it needs.

But which would you go for, would it be the Fiat 124 Spider with its lower price tag or would you rather have the Mazda Miata?
