Facebook is looking to dip their toes into the News market as the Facebook mobile app was given a new Facebook News tab this week. A few hundred thousand fo users in the US have reported getting the tab on their app.
From what we have seen so far, Facebook managed to get reports from some of the biggest publishers out there incliding The Wall Street Journal, USA Today and Buzzfeed. Facebook will be paying some publishers for their work which is a nice revenue option for the media industry.
More details about the new News tab will be revealed when Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Facebook takes the stage today in New York City. The new tab will sow some of the top events of the day and will be shown based on what you like to read. There is also the option to further personalize the tab.
As for how far this will actually go, we will have to wait and see.
