Fiat Chrysler has announced that they will be issuing a new recall to bring back 4.8 million units in the US due to issues with their cruise control.

According to Fiat Chrysler, the cruise control feature might refuse to turn off although they did add that this will only happen under extremely rare series of event. They did add that there are times when the cruise control system would automatically accelerate to help the vehicle maintain the selected speed but if that happens with a short-circuit, the driver might find that they can no longer turn off cruise control

If you do find yourself in a situation where the cruise control will not turn off, NHTSA said that drivers can stop it by shifting to neautral and braking. Model affected by the recall includes the Chrysler 200, 300, Pacifica, Dodge Charger, Challenger, Journey, Ram 1500, 2500, 30500 and Ram 3500/4500/5500.

While they work on the fix for the issue, Fiat Chrysler has advice the owners to stop using the cruise control for now until they release the software update for the feature.
