Could The Toyota Prius Be Taking Its Last Breath?

By  |

The Toyota Prius could be taking its last breath as it isn’t able to compete with the electric vehicles out today, which generally offer around 300 miles.

Even Toyota have realised that the Toyota Prius isn’t able to keep up and they have come up with an in-house company so that staff can put all their time into designing an electric vehicle offering 300 miles range. They are hoping that the vehicle will be ready for launch by 2020 and Japan will be the first to get it.

The staff working on the new electric vehicle from Toyota is going to be able to work independently on the design and the research of electric vehicles for the new EV.

Toyota has been the leader in fuel cell technology and the Mirai has been called the ultimate eco-car. When the Toyota electric car does make its way out it could be time for Toyota to get rid of the Toyota Prius, as it cannot compete these days.

Seriously? My prius gets me 550-600 miles on a tank, far more than any electric on the market, and requires only moments at the pump.

I think you might be a tad premature saying that it’s unable to compete today.
