Chevrolet Silverado Finally Took Ford Seriously

By  |

When Ford initially revealed the Ford F-150, most people were not too sure about all the aluminium that the truck had on but after the success that Ford had since the release of the Ford F-150, it looks like GM finally took them seriously.

According to Tim Herrick from GM, a few engineers for GM took the Ford Rouge Factory Tour to get some tips on how Ford made the F-150 so that they can work on improving the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra.

He also added that GM bought some F-150 doors so that they can tear them apart and see how they were made. This helps them understand how they can make their doors lighter and cheaper using both high-strength steel and aluminium.

With all the changes Chevrolet made to their trucks, they manage to cut at least 450lbs on the 2018 model. GM did overtake Ford in the truck market share but the Ford F-150 is still one of the best selling vehicles in the US.
