The Volvo XC90 is a superb vehicle and it can be thanked for reviving the Volvo branding. The vehicle does have the qualifications so it can give lessons to the Audi Q7 and BMW X5.
Geely invested a huge $11 billion in Volvo four years ago but that investment has paid off. Some of the cash was used on the new engine plant and the rest on the SPA platform.
The Volvo XC90 and S90 are two vehicles that have done well for Volvo. The former managed an increase in sales of 259%. Right now it is 18 months old but in just four years it is going to be the oldest with the SPA platform. Volvo said that they want the plant in South Carolina to be able to produce 100,000 vehicles a year and he spoke up about the partnership with Uber.
Uber and Volvo had been doing research into autonomous driving and the Volvo XC90 was seen in testing driving around the Pittsburgh region.
Three years ago Volvo said that they want to be a top tier brand and sell 800,000 vehicles per year. Sales have doubled in four years and they have sold 425,000 vehicles and still believe that they are on target.
