BMW X2 IIHS Safety Score Far From Ideal

By  |

While it is hard to get a Top Safety Pick + rating from IIHS, most premium models would have no issue getting the Top Safety Pick award but BMW X2 could not even get that from IIHS which is surprising.

The BMW X2 was given a Good rating for tests like the moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and the small overlap front test but it still could not get the top award because of the head restraints which were only given an “Acceptable” rating.

Since the results were announced, BMW has responded saying that they have taken notice of the results from IIHS and will be working to improve the head restraint. IIHS will be tested the BMW X2 once more in September to see if the X2 can get a better safety rating from IIHS.

The new BMW X2 comes powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that will be offering 228hp. The based model will be sold for $34,400.
