BMW iX3 Electric SUV Will Further Solidify China’s EV Future

By  |

It looks like China is gearing up to be the center of EV production and with BMW now announcing that the BMW iX3 electric SUV will be built in Chine from 2020.

BMW announced that they will be partnering up with Brillance Automotive Group to built their new BMW iX3 in Chine. The vehicle will then be imported to the rest of the world. To ensure that they can keep up with the demand, BBA announces that they will work to increase the capacity of their local production facilities so that they can build 520,000 vehicles in 2019.

The BMW Concept iX3 that we saw was powered by an electric powertrain that delivered about 270hp. The vehicle was able to offer up to 249miles of range on a single charge and can be charged back up in just 30 minutes using a 150kW quick charger.

Details like pricing is still a mystery now but we should be hearing more about it as the vehicle heads into production in 2020.
