Audi E-Tron Production Model Will Keep Outrageous Concept Feature?

By  |

We have seen it on quite a few concepts now, as more and more automakers are playing with the idea of using cameras instead of side mirrors for their vehicles but so far, that design feature was only seen on the concept and never on a production model.

However, the upcoming Audi E-Tron production model might keep the cameras and do away with the side mirrors when it arrives. Audi has just released a few interior images of the Audi E-Tron prototypes and one thing that the fans notice is the OLED screens on the side that would replace the side mirrors. The screens will offer three different views, Highways, street corners and parking.

Audi added that the Audi E-Tron will be the first mass-produced vehicle with such a setup. Replacing the side mirrors would not only improve the visibility of the driver but it will also help reduce the drag by 0.28.

Details like the power output of the electric motors is still a mystery but more should be revealed as we get closer to the production model.
