Apple: What Makes The iPhone 7 Plus Go ‘Boom’?

By  |

The whole mess with the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 battery setting on fire has passed over and now it’s the turn of the iPhone 7 to go boom. But what made the handset blow up?

We have seen a video on Twitter of an iPhone 7 smoking and this went viral, so Apple has been forced to look into the matter. The owner shared the video of the iPhone 7 Plus blowing up and they are now looking into how it happened.

Brianna Olivas had the rose gold version of the iPhone 7 and she said she bought it in January from Sprint and it caught on fire while she was asleep recently. The phone was said to be making a squealing noise and steaming so her boyfriend threw the handset into the bathroom and it then blew up and smoke started pouring out of it.

Apple made a statement saying that they were looking into the iPhone 7 setting on fire. The video quickly amassed 2.4 million views along with 28,000 retweets. It was suggested that perhaps the liquid filled case on the device could have had something to do with the explosion but this hasn’t been proven.

But do you own the iPhone 7 and are you now worried that the handset may be going down the same road as the Samsung Galaxy Note 7?
