Apple Makes Amends On MacBook Pro [Update]

When customers began to receive their new Touch Bar MacBook Pro laptops there was uproar when they started to complain that they didn’t offer up the 10 hour battery life that Apple had promised. Thankfully Apple is now making amends as they have offered an update.

Apple sent out a new macOS update to put a stop to the time remaining indicator showing up when the battery icon is clicked in the status bar. This isn’t the only change that the company has made though. Rumours suggest that the new update brings with it improvements to the battery life and this means that owners should get the 10 hours that were promised.

One owner of the MacBook Pro said that the macOS Sierra 10.12.2 update had fixed the battery issue. They said that they now get 9 to 10 hours of use with the laptop as before the idle power consumption would not go below 6 watts and it now goes to minus 4 watts with 60% brightness and the ambient light sensor turned on.

Apple didn’t say that the update does bring improvements to the battery life. They mentioned improvements with stability and graphics, but nothing about the battery life.

Apple did however say that they stand behind the promise that the MacBook Pro offers up 10 hours of battery life.
