Android Wear Sucks As Much As Apple Watch

By  |

Android Wear along with smartwatches were said to be the next best thing since sliced bread and it was said that we would find them indispensable when using them along with our phones. It was said that notifications, voice communication, integration with smart home and alerts on smartwatches would be the way of the future. However, in reality this isn’t so and it seems that Android Wear sucks just as much as the Apple Watch.

Android Wear is close to enjoying its second birthday and the amount of Wear apps coming out has led to a slowdown of the new Wear apps along with watch faces. Many of the faces for the watches are not too practical and really they don’t do anything other than offer the watch a smart look.

Bear in mind that you are going to be paying out upwards of $250 and for this you could get yourself a pretty decent entry level phone. Of course there are some things that the watch can do that the phone cannot. This is such as giving you the option to just glance at the notification and swipe it away from your wrist or dictate an SMS message on the go.

On the other hand a quick fumble in the pocket and you can swipe away a message from the phone or dictate a message. Plus a phone does a lot more than the watch.

The only thing going for the Android Wear and Apple Watch is that you have it on your wrist and it looks cool. Many people have to go out of their way to find a use for the Wear devices. Android Wear isn’t as good as it could be, but this doesn’t necessarily mean that smartwatches are useless.

However, smart watches are just another gadget that has to be charged and it does drain down the battery of the phone. Whether or not you are going to feel that you are compelled to rush out and purchase a smartwatch is another matter. Perhaps until Google wows everyone with some new and more worthwhile Wear features, you might want to spend your hard earned cash elsewhere.

I really like my Apple Watch and I am not fan of watches. It did replace my ugly fitbit and it does so much more. I am wearing a watch everyday now for the first time in almost 30 years.
