8GB Nexus 7 Disappears Before $99 Price Tag

While we expect to see the 32GB Google Nexus 7 announced next week at a special Google event, what is more exciting is the rumors of the current models having their price tags drop.

8GB Google Nexus 7 sold out on Google Play Store already

In particular, speculations suggest that the 8GB Google Nexus 7 may get a new $99 price point, making it the steal of the century (yes, even better than the HP TouchPad deal that went on last year to clear remaining units of the then unpopular webOS tablet).

However there is some bad news today. The 8GB Google Nexus 7 has already been sold out on the official Google Play Store. It is no just listed as “Coming Soon”. This of course may really mean that they are short of stock and it will return, or the other reason could be that the model is on its way out for good.

When you think about it, if it is widely known around the web that the 32GB Nexus 7 will push the price of the current 8GB model down to $99, why are people buying them like hotcakes? So it may be likely that the 8GB Nexus 7 won’t get a shot at hitting that $99 price tag. I hope I’m wrong though.

Stay tuned for more updates soon.
