Over in Europe Volkswagen have just given the 7th generation of the Volkswagen Golf R an update and it now offers even more power along with better looks and plenty of technology features. So much so that it is ready to tear the Honda Civic Type-R apart.

Volkswagen didn’t say much about the revised version of the Volkswagen Golf R but they have released a teaser video and this tells us that the vehicle is going to arrive with 17 inch brakes and launch control.

The video also suggests that the Volkswagen Golf R is going to be given an adjustable ride height. From what we know it doesn’t look as though the carmaker has given the vehicle an upgraded engine. The video shows the vehicles reaching 166mph so we think it has the same 310 horsepower engine from the standard version.

The launch control means that the new Volkswagen Golf R can reach 62mph in only 4.6 seconds. This is helped by the vehicle having the sticky Pirelli Trofeo R tires, seen on the Lamborghini that broke the lap record around Nurburgring.

The enhancements to the Volkswagen Golf R mean that it is able to go up against the all new Civic Type-R and maybe even beat it.

Check out the video below and let us know what your thoughts are about the Volkswagen Golf R.
