2020 Volkswagen Golf R: Same Engine To Offer More?

By  |

We already knew that Volkswagen was working on a new Golf R model and while we still do not know all the changes Volkswagen planned to give the new Golf R, we at least know that it will be offering a lot more in terms of power this time around.

The Golf R will be arriving as a 2020 model and according to Volkswagen, it is going to be “extreme”. He added that while nobody really needs a vehicle that has 400bhp to offer but he thinks the Golf R should be going there.

If this is true, it will be offering a lot more than the current model which does 292hp. The upgrade would mean that the Golf R could be capable of taking on the Ford Focus RS model.

It is said that the Golf R will still be getting the 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine and that could be mated to a seven-speed auto-transmission. The new model will also be getting more carbon fiber parts to further reduce the weight of the vehicle.
