2020 Mercedes-Benz SL Will Reinvent Itself

By  |

With what the current Mercedes-Benz SL model is offering, it does not look like there is much of a future for it which is probably why Mercedes think that there needs to be a change.

According to Autocar, the Mercedes-Benz SL will be reinvented and be sold as a driver-focused model like the AMG GT. The vehicle will be riding on the Modular Sports Architecture (MSA) which means it will be sharing its suspension, axles, and steering system with the GT. The vehicle will also be getting a 48-volt electric architecture and a range of hybrid powertrains.

The based model will be fitted with a turbocharged 3.0 liter inline six engine that will be paired with an electric motor. This will allow the vehicle to offer about 387hp.

There will also be an AMG model which will be pushed to deliver close to 450hp. Because of the platform, we can also expect the vehicle to have a different design.
