While Chevrolet is not done with the Chevrolet Malibu yet, they are definitely done with the Malibu hybrid as the automaker announced that they will be killing of the Malibu hybrid model when the 2020 Chevrolet Malibu arrives.
According to Kevin Kelly, the spokesman of GM, the Malibu Hybrid will not be offered in the 2020MY lineup. The Malibu Hybrid currently comes powered by a 1.8-liter four-cylinder petrol engine that is mated to an electric motor to offer a combined output of 182hp. On the electric motor alone, the vehicle will be able to travel up to 55mph.
With the Hybrid option now gone, all Malibu will have to offer will be the 1.5-liter turbocharged engine that will be offering about 160hp and a 2.0-liter turbo-four engine that will be mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission.
While we won’t be seeing the hybrid, the Malibu will still be getting an update for 2022 so we have that to look forward to
