2019 Toyota Corolla Headlights Got In The Way

By  |

IIHS brought in a few models for testing including the 2019 Toyota Corolla and while the Corolla is safe enough to get a Top Safety Pick rating, it missed out on the Plus because of its weak headlights.

The 2019 Toyota Corolla was given a Good rating for the single crash test, small-overlap passenger-side collision and more. The forward collision prevention technology also managed to stop the car at speeds of up to 25mph. The LED headlights were given an Acceptable score which is not bad but of course, not enough to give it a Plus rating.

Other models that were brought in for testing also includes the Volvo XC90 and Volvo S90 model which were also given a Top Safety Pick rating as their headlights were only given an Acceptable although the S90 standard headlights were only given a Marginal rating.

These are not the only models that missed out on the Plus rating because of the headlights and this seems to be the main reason why a lot of crossovers and SUVs are not getting the top safety rating.
