2019 Mercedes-AMG GT-R Roadster Goes Soft On The Track

By  |

We knew that Mercedes was working on a new GT but what we did not know was that they were going to carry over the folding roof to the model and come out with a GT R Roadster.

Although Mercedes has not confirmed anything yet, the Mercedes-AMG GT-R Roadster was caught testing on the track wearing a soft top roof. The rest of the vehicle was covered in camo sticker but we could make out features like the fender vent with a single bar cutting across it.

The wheels and brake were brought over from the GT R along with the big rear diffuser, center-exit exhaust and more in the back. In the front, the Roadster will be fitted with a wider front bumper. Besides that, the rest of the vehicle should remain including the engine as it is expected to be the soft top version of the GT-R.

The current CT-R is powered by a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine that will be offering about 577hp and 516lb ft of torque. The engine will come fitted with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
