2019 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Will Join Hellcat

By  |

Dodge shocked us all when they decided to give the Dodge Challenger Hellcat an engine with an output at exceeds the 700hp mark but it looks like Ford is liking what they see as they too are working to have their Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 deliver more than 700hp when it arrives.

There were rumors about Ford working on a more powerful Mustang for the longest time and Ford finally confirmed it earlier this year. According to Ford, the new Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 will be arriving next year.

Ford has not announced the engine yet but Car and Driver have reported that the GT500 could be fitted with a 5.2-liter V8 engine that could be fitted with either a six-speed manual transmission or a new 10-speed auto.

New spy shots of the vehicle also suggest that it will not be getting all the exterior upgrades that the 2018 Ford Mustang got but will instead be keeping the slightly older design.

With everything that is said to be coming with the Mustang Shelby GT500, it will be interesting to see if it has what it takes to take on their rivals.
