As with every new thing, it will often come with new issues. For the electric car, it looks like the quiet engine is an issue. Some people have voiced their concern that with an electric car being so quiet now, pedestrians will not be able to hear them coming and thus putting them in danger.

Well, one of the solutions was to add noise to the vehicle so that the pedestrian and hear when it is coming. Chevrolet has been playing around with that idea for years now but their latest solution might be the oddest one yet.

Chevrolet has just revealed that the 2019 Chevrolet Volt will be fitted with two small waterproof speakers int he front and in the back. The system will be paired with the gear selection and speed of the vehicle. The faster the vehicle goes, the louder the noise.

While we like the idea of it, we are still confused as to why Chevrolet choose this odd alien sounding noise. However, if it can alert the pedestrian, well, who cares what sound it makes. The 2019 Chevrolet Volt will be the first to get this new tech but the Bolt should also be getting it soon.
