2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Airbags Issues Leads To Recall

By  |

It looks like an issue with the airbags on the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 means that some 500 units of the vehicle will be heading back to the dealers.

According to AutoNews, the sensing diagnostic module of the vehicle could be exposed to extremely hard braking and sustained acceleration events under certain track condition.

This could cause it to enter a fault state and will not return to normal. In this fault state, the SDM will not provide crash sensing and will not deploy its airbag in an event of an accident or crash.

The issue only affects about 1 % of the Corvette ZR1. Those affected by the defect will be informed by the company starting from the 29th of June. The fix will include reprogramming the device. The fix will, of course, be free of charge.

The issue was discovered back in April with investigation starting on the 8th of May.
