2018 Volkswagen Arteon: Worthy As Halo Car?

By  |

The 2018 Volkswagen Arteon is going to take over from the Phaeton and the VV CC and it is going to be a halo car for the carmaker, but is it worthy of having the name?

The CC never went down well in sales for Volkswagen as it was called a cult vehicle and it brought with it new buyers that were attracted to the styling. However, it didn’t go down well as the seating in the back was on the small side, head room was limited and luggage space was compromised.

The 2018 Volkswagen Arteon is taking inspiration from the Sport Coupe GTE concept that we saw at the Geneva show in 2015. The production version will not be offered with the V6 gas/electric hybrid powertrain, instead it will offer the engine and transmission options of the Passat.

The 2018 Volkswagen Arteon is going to have the 19 inch alloy wheels along with LED Matrix headlights and active indicators that are the styling of Audi vehicles. The cabin will include what Volkswagen call the active information dashboard, which comes with head up display, and it will come with the new standard from Volkswagen for autonomous capabilities. We are looking forward to hearing more about this in the future.
