2018 Suzuki Jimny Will Save Your Knees But Not Chest

By  |

If you are looking for something that is safer, the Suzuki Jimny should not be on your list as the vehicle was only given a 3-Star EuroNCAP rating.

According to the report, the passenger compartment of the Jimny was extensively deformed during the frontal offset test, especially around the door frame. The dummy reading showed that the knees and femurs were well protected but not so much the chest.

The report claim that the rigid barrier impact protection of the rear passenger head was weak while protection for the chest of the driver and rear passenger was marginal. The driver’s airbag also had an insufficient pressure which means it will eventually bottom out which allowed the dummy’s head to impact the steering wheel.

That is not all, it was also added that the AEB showed weak performance in the test. With the Jumony being new and rugged looking, you would think that it will be much safer but clearly, more work needs to be done.
