2018 Mazda 6 Follows Mazda CX-5 With Optional Feature

By  |

The Mazda CX-5 has just given the Top Safety Pick + safety rating thanks to its headlights and now the Mazda 6 managed to get the top rating from IIHS as well but only thanks to an optional feature.

The optional adaptive headlight is offered as an optional feature on the Mazda 6 which according to IIHS, is what the Mazda 6 needs to get the Top Safety Pick + rating.

IIHS explain that most of the crashes happen at night because the current headlights are just not good enough in the real world. The adaptive headlights help improve the vision of the driver significantly because it follows the front wheels.

However, the feature is only offered on the Grand Touring Reserve and Signature trim model so not all Mazda 6 was given the Top Safety Pick + rating. Hopefully, the option will also be offered to the lower trim models in the near future.
