2018 Kia Niro Plug-In Hybrid: What’s Different?

By  |

Kia was at the LA Auto Show where they showed off some of their upcoming models like the three-row Kia Sorento as well as the Kia Niro Plug-In Hybrid model.

Compared to the standard Kia Niro, the Niro Plug-In Hybrid does not look that different. Some minor design upgrades include the slightly updated grille, some extra blue trim accents and LED headlight option.

It is estimated that the Kia Niro Plug-In Hybrid will be able to offer about 26miles of electric range which is about the same as the Hyundai Ioniq Plug-In. When all the electric range is spent, the vehicle would be able to offer about 48mpg in the city and 44mpg on the highway thanks to the 8.9kWh lithium polymer battery pack which will offer about 60hp.

Despite that, the battery takes up the same space on the inside so the interior is as spacious as the standard model.
