2018 Hyundai Kona Wants Top Safety Award That Bad

By  |

The headlights safety rating has been the main reason why so many models were not given the Top Safety Pick + rating by IIHS and while most automakers would just settle for the Top Safety Pick rating, Hyundai decided to give their Kona’s headlight an upgrade to ensure that it gets the top safety rating from IIHS.

The Hyundai Kina Limited and ultimate trim will now be fitted with projector LED lights that according to IIHS, is a massive upgrade from the standard lighting and more than enough to warrant the Kina the Top Safety Pick + rating.

However, the base model will still be fitted with the halogen lights which was given a Poor rating by IIHS which means the base model will not be getting the top safety rating but the Kona still did pretty well in the other crash tests. Top that all off with the unique design and fun drive and we have a winner here.
