2018 Honda Civic Type-R: Kept Quiet In SEMA Crowd

By  |

The 2018 Honda Civic Type R was first shown off in Paris and then it is making its debut at the SEMA event in Las Vegas. It offers up a design that is very aggressive looking and flashy, but at the SEMA event it was made to look unassuming when it was featured alongside other louder and flashier concepts of the Civic.

The Honda Civic Type R is the uber-Civic that offers up the hopped up turbocharged engine and it has the mean looks too. While power numbers haven’t been released yet, it does come with the 20 inch alloy wheels in piano black and 255 section tires.

The Honda Civic Type R was shown off alongside other custom versions of the Civic in what Honda has termed “Civicpalooza”. They are featuring two racing versions of the Honda Civic and production based custom vehicles in their booth.

The racing version of the Honda Civic includes the Global Rallycross Red Bull Civic and Team Honda Racing West Endurance racer. There are two custom versions, with one having the Honda Factory Performance parts and a Body-In-White that was designed by the Performance Development team.

One of the most interesting is the Sega Sonic the Hedgehog Honda Civic Sedan in Sonic blue paint and complete with decal of the hedgehog. It includes a 32 inch LCD TV display popping out of the trunk to play Sonic the Hedgehog.

So while the 2018 Honda Civic Type R is bold and aggressive in black, it isn’t going to be the vehicle that is going to stand out the most at the SEMA event. The event will take place over 1 to 4 November at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
