2018 Ford Mustang vs Dodge Challenger: Newer Isn’t Always Better

By  |

While the Dodge Challenger may be the oldest pony car on the block it still gives the 2018 Ford Mustang a run for its money and proves that newer isn’t always better. With age comes character and this is something that goes a long way.

The 2018 Ford Mustang offers up the V8 5 litre Coyote dual-injected engine and there is no doubt that its fast. It offers up 10 speed automatic transmission, twin-disc clutch with six speed manual transmission on the V8 models and the MagneRide magnetic dampers.

We haven’t seen a new Dodge Challenger from the FCA to totally replace the 2008 model. However they are bringing out new variations, with one being the Challenger Hellcat with 707 horses and the Challenger Demon which is heading our way based on the Hellcat.

We are not going to see a new Dodge Challenger arrive until 2020 but when it does it will have an emphasis on dynamic performance and handling. For the time being the 2018 Ford Mustang will be going up against the older version of the Challenger but then it is going up a classic that is well loved. Some have said that the Challenger offers up the best handling, comfort and power of any pony car along with one of the best driving experiences.

All in all while the Dodge Challenger may be getting on, it cannot be classed as being old. It has aged like fine wine and still plays its role today among the pony cars, it’s a plus monster of a vehicle.
