2018 Ford GT In Trouble For Being Too Hot

By  |

Ford wanted the Ford GT to be a hot car but even they did not want the vehicle to get so hot. Ford will have to issue a recall for the 2017 and 2018 Ford GT supercar after it was reported that it might catch fire.

According to the reports, some valves at the base of the hydraulically actuated rear wing will start leaking fluid which can then drip down to the exhaust and cause a fire. Ford reported that one GT in Germany has already caught fire but luckily, no one was hurt.

The recall will affect models made from the 20th December 2016 until 31st July 2018. Ford added that the issue seems to be because there are times when there is too much pressure in the hydraulic valve block below the wing which forces some fluid to run out.

The fix will probably be a software update to prevent the system from applying too much pressure. Some models might also need a hydraulic check valve, filter, and O-ring.
