2018 Ford F-150 Seat Belt Puts Passengers In More Danger [Recall]

By  |

The Ford F-150 is currently one of the best selling truck in the market but that does not mean that the truck is problem free. It looks like Ford might have to recall about 2 million of their Ford F-150 truck if the NHTSA investigation report does show that there is an issue with the seat belts.

According to the report, the seat belt pretensioner system might be the reason why some Ford F-150 truck started catching fire. Although there were no injuries that have been reported to be directly related to the seat belt pretensioner system, a few trucks have been destroyed or severely damage because of it.

At this point, a recall has not been announced yet but if Ford does issue a recall, it might affect up to 2 million units as it will be affecting models from 2015 to 2018. NHTSA summarize that the seat belt pretensioners manufactured by ZF TRW and Takata could be the main culprit here. In case you forgot, Takata is also the manufacturer behind the faulty airbags that would explode when deployed.
