2018 Ford F-150 Could Be A Fire Hazard [Recall]

By  |

It was reported that NHTSA was looking to some of the reports that claim that the Ford F-150 seat belt pretensioners might be the reason behind some of the vehicles catching fires.

A total of 17 reports of smoke and fire was reported here in the US while Canada had six. Although no injuries were reported, it was said that at least three models were destroyed completely by the fire. After the investigation, it looks like NHTSA did find proof of the issue as Ford is now recalling close to 2 million units of the Ford F-150 to fix the issue.

According to the report, the issue now is with the seatbelt pre-tensioners that might generate excessive sparks when deployed. The sparks could ignite the gases inside the lower portion of the trucks’ B-pillars and thus causing a fire inside.

Those affected by the recall will include the 2015 – 2018 Ford F-150 models
