BMW offered a few diesel-powered models for 2018 which made it seems like the diesel-powered models are here to stay but that is not what is going to happen now as diesel announce that they will be removing the diesel-powered BMWs from the NA lineup.

According to BMW, they want to focus on PHEV models right now as the demand for diesel-powered models has been decreasing while the damnd for PHEV models are rising. That means model like the 328d, 540d which has only been around for 1 year and the X5 35d will also be taken out from their NA lineup.

Of course, BMW also added that they will monitor their customer’s preferences and is prepared to adjust their portfolio based on what is in demand so if diesel does start getting more attention in the future, they could bring it back.

BMW is not the only automaker that is moving away from diesel engines as automakers like Mercedes and Porsche has also been offering little to no diesel models.
